50 years of Rae: 50 Turns Around the Sun for Rae...

On March 16 of 2018, my little sister turns 50 and here's a brief summary of some of those 50 years--

When Rae first entered into our family of three in Honolulu Hawaii, I was confused and had to ask my dad why she was hanging out with us...

Although our mom told me my exact reaction at the age of four was the statement "I like she" on the day Rae was brought home from the hospital.

This was our mom in about 1962 during the courtship with our dad ...

and this was our dad around 1962 as well, notice the camera in his hand

here's Rae with her favorite doll "Suzie-Q"

and then here we are with Aunt Sandy Otto, she was instrumental in how our parents met one another in San Francisco around 1962

always an animal lover, Rae presents us with a pygmy goat ~

Rae and I liked hanging out... here we are around 1971 in the backyard of our 988 West California home in Mill Valley

Since I was obsessed with horses, i was relieved when Rae demonstrated enjoyment in riding this one

and then in 1973 my dad made a decision for our family to do a recon mission to San Diego to see if it was worth moving down there... here we are after arriving on PSA

oh the glorious days of air travel when you could actually pose on a tarmac!

and so we hung out at the Coronado Shores and here's a shot of Rae with little brother Ian who seems quite taken with the lifeguard lady

possibly my favorite memory of Rae's Halloween outfits around 1973 or so

and our Grandmother Gaston was so fond of sewing us tons of clothes, so Rae is modeling an outfit

and now let's look at a progression of school photos from my files on my sister Rae:

Now we jump ahead to 1976. My mom thought it was important to take a family portrait after my dad had died in Dec of 1975. We won't see photos for several years after this one

Jumping to 1990 in New York City. Both Rae and Anna are living in NYC. Here's a photo of Rae with her new pug puppy named Nigel. It was about 5 degrees out in Central Park

here were are in Anna's Studio apartment on 51st St, NYC

here is a shot taken at the DiMenna home one evening during a dinner, you have to make special note of that wallpaper and this was 1991

here's a photo taken in the backyard of the home in Coronado... nice fashionable bathing suit and not sure what prompted the expression

this is Christmas of 1993 I think, brother Ian and Rae in the 'fancy room' of the house

yet again Rae is enthused about something we're not sure of but the camera captures all

of course the obligatory photo booth shots in the days before digital cameras

It's around 1996 now and I won a trip to Hawaii. Who is my guest? My sister Rae of course! We go to Kauai!

then it must have been New Years 1998 when this photo was taken and what a fateful night this was. Rae had invited office workers over to the parent's home in Coronado for a 'big New Year party' where in fact only a handful of people were in attendance. That's Will on the left of the photo, and this photo documents the first spark of love that Rae didn't even know was manifesting yet.

Rae was probably sensing her destiny when this photo was taken later that same New Year's party night

Life changes for Rae in October 1999 when she marries William C. Roth at Christ Episcopal Church in Coronado with a reception at the home of 855 Alameda Blvd and about 80 guests attend

2002 on the way to North Carolina to visit Grandmother

And as commonly happens among young married couples, a baby arrives on July 5 of 2002 and here's the 2002 holiday greeting card that was sent out

Annabel was and is an alert soul, this photo was taken within 24 hours of her birth

Aunt Anna goes camera crazy and takes a ton of shots of her first niece and here is Annabel at 4 months old with her mom

Little family Roth live in San Rafael for the two years of Annabel's life

then we have Annabel's brother Theodore coming into the earth's realm on April 17, 2004 and he's born in San Francisco

Here's one of the rare moments all three original Mackinnon siblings manage to get together at Alex Fraley's wedding to Tammy and that is Ian's boy Keegan in the photo
